Family Pictures Are Always An Adventure

I signed up to make a craft at Super Saturday that required a family picture. Since Solee has changed so much since our last pics, we decided to get updated pictures. I think I forget how difficult a task, getting family pictures can be.

The first step was to find a photographer that I can afford. I did that with relative ease thanks to Facebook.

Next, find coordinating outfits. This is difficult for me. I'm not naturally a stylish person. My kids and myself typically look pretty homely. If you notice in our last family pictures, Embrie didn't even wear shoes.

Finally, the photo shoot. For some reason Cayben has a strong objection to getting family pictures taken. He typically looks at the camera like this:

Or we get a lot of pictures like these:

Or he refuses to be in the pictures all together...

Unless he's holding a slug... (Yes there is a slug in our family photo!)

Or is being tickled.

It takes a lot of work keeping a family of 5 happy for a photo session. Shay and I left feeling like there was no chance that the photographer was able to catch a good family photo out of all of it. To our surprise, she captured several good shots.

Balloon Races

Reno seems to have some big event happening every weekend, at least since we've been here. I'm always up for a party, so it works for me. This weekend was the hot air balloon races.

As a child I had a small obsession with hot air balloons. My mother would even drag me around town to chase their landings. (What a nice mother I have!) So I was excited to say the least.

Yesterday I woke my kids up early. Way too early. 4:30 a.m. early. I grabbed some snacks, some kids and my man and threw it all in the car to go catch the balloon launch. Turns out we could of slept a bit longer because the mass ascension didn't begin until 6:45 a.m. Oh well. We got to watch the glow show, which was like 10 balloons lighting up their balloons all together. It was pretty cool to see the balloons light up the dark sky, but sleep's cool too.

Eventually all the balloons filled the sky. It was pretty cool.
