On our drive home from our little Bay Area vacation we stopped by Squaw Valley Mountain Resort to try and get a ride on the gondola. We just missed the last ride of the day, but we still enjoyed the sunshiny day on the mountain.

I Caught a Leprechaun or Two
When March 17 rolls around you best be wearing green or I'm gonna pinch you! OK, I probably won't because I'm nice, but I will be sure to celebrate the Irish holiday in my own way.
On the morning of St. Patrick's Day my family (Grandma and Grandpa included) woke to a surprise at the breakfast table. I set each place setting with some green goodies and then we ate our traditional breakfast of Lucky Charms and green milk. I also made a cute fruit tray.
We then got ready and made sure all the kids had clothes on. I did Embrie's hair in a shamrock, Cayben and Shay spiked their hair with green hair color, and Solee just wore a green headband. That's about our only option with her at this point. ;)
After dinner we split again. This time Cayben and Shay went to karate and the rest of us went to Scheels.
Scheels was hosting a kid's event called, Leprechaun Luck. My girls went from station to station and were transformed into leprechauns. And they did indeed find a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
And what is a trip to Scheels without out a ride on the ferris wheel?
Poor little Solee can hardly wait until she's big enough to ride.

Solee ate her entire pack of gum in record time. |
This is how the kids look in the morning. I'm actually surprised that 2 of the 3 kids have clothes on. |
The boys spent their morning on a Jeeping adventure.
We then met up for lunch in town. The kids got a green bagel. Afterward we split, boys to the National Automobile Museum and girls shopping.
For dinner my ma and I made a green feast. We had green potatoes au gratin, cabbage and corn, pesto chicken and green chips made from spinach tortillas.

What a fun-filled day spent with the people I love! How lucky I am.
The Squeaky Wheel Gets the Greece
I recently was feeling kind of down, and went back to that childhood notion that momma can fix anything. I missed my mom and was feeling gloomy about all of the day-to-day tasks of life.
I whined to my Shay and he half-heartedly suggested I check on one-way flights to Vegas. (Little back story: My parents are staying in Southern Utah in their camper for the winter, now that they are retirees. Also, my parents already had plans to drive out to my house in the upcoming weeks, so I could catch a ride back with them.) I quickly jumped on Shay's suggestion and found tickets for around $40 a pop, and Solee still flies for free. I was stoked!
A couple of weeks later my kids and I flew out to Vegas.
My parents picked us up at the airport and we traveled north to Hurricane, Utah. Being with my momma did in fact heal my soul.
We spent the next few days exploring beautiful Southern Utah.
Saturday we went on a hike at Red Cliffs. We hiked up to three waterfalls. It was lovely!
Sunday we went to church. Solee says, "shoe" like "ew." The lady in the row behind us had turquoise shoes on, which Solee took notice to. Solee pointed at the women while repeating, "Ew, ew, ew, ew," over and over again. Poor women.
After church we rested for awhile and then headed over to a nearby lake, Sand Hollow. Embrie especially loved playing in the red sand.
Afterward my parents drove me around and showed me some of the area. All I can say about that is I can't wait until Shay is retired and we can go "live" wherever we want for whatever period of time we want to stay.
By Monday we were all too ready for another hike. We drove out to another nearby trail, had a picnic by the river, and then hiked up a trail that included petroglyphs and petrified wood.
By Tuesday we had to say goodbye to Southern Utah's stunning beauty. We drove to Idaho so my parents could take their four-wheelers home and tie up a few loose ends. We were only in Pocatello for a few days, but it was sure nice to see family.
On Friday we headed back to Reno. I was way too excited to see Shay. When am I going to learn that I actually hate being away from him?
My parents stayed with us in Reno until the following Thursday. My mom and I spent most of the time making preparations for Heather's surprise 40th birthday party. My dad spent the time being sick. Poor guy.
On Thursday we drove to Santa Rosa, CA to surprise my big sis for her birthday. That's another post in its own.
I love vacation! I love being with family! And I love that we're going back to Idaho really soon!
